ORB Online EncyclopediaFirst Steps: an Introductory Bibliography in Medieval Jewish History
Compiled by Elka Klein
The purpose of this page is to provide teachers, researchers and students who are familiar with medieval history and are interested in Jewish history with suggestions on where to go first. This is not intended to be a comprehensive bibliography. These works were selected because they are relatively up-to-date treatments of relatively broad areas or themes within the field, and because they do not assume any significant background in Hebrew, Judaism or Jewish history. Many thanks to the members of the H-Judaic email list who offered their suggestions and input in compiling this list. Many of the suggestions and the annotations represent their input.
